First major air carrier liability regime (passengers, baggage, cargo), notably amended by the 1955 Hague Protocol. Largely superseded by the Montreal Convention but still applicable between States not parties to it.

Convention for the unification of certain rules relating to international air transport, adopted on 28 May 1999, in force since 4 November 2003. Modernises and replaces the Warsaw system between State parties: strengthened carrier liability, indemnity thresholds in Special Drawing Rights, better passenger protection.
