What is the customs clearance lead time at Dakar Port?

Our average lead time is 72 hours after declaration filing, for green channel goods (no physical inspection). For red channel (physical inspection required), allow 5 to 7 working days. We do everything to maximise green channel clearance.

What documents are needed for customs clearance?

Standard documents are: commercial invoice, bill of lading (B/L) or air waybill (AWB), packing list, certificate of origin, and depending on the goods, phytosanitary, health or analysis certificates. We tell you exactly what you need based on your specific cargo.

How are customs duties calculated in Senegal?

Duties are calculated on the customs value (CIF = invoice value + freight + insurance) using the ECOWAS Common External Tariff (CET). Rates are 0%, 5%, 10% or 20% depending on the product category. Added to this are VAT (18%), statistical levy (1%) and community solidarity levy (1%). We calculate the exact amount at the quoting stage.

Can you handle clearance if my goods are stuck?

Yes. We intervene on stuck cases: goods in bond, customs disputes, classification errors, contested revaluations. Our team knows the appeal procedures before the Senegalese Customs Directorate.
